Another Saturday!
Another baby shower!! This one is actually a couples baby shower! So babies and couples!! I mean, how fun! Yippee! I think if I keep using exclamation points maybe I will convince myself it will somehow be better than a trip to the dentist!

It could be worse -- you could have had to plan it. I'm at least thankful for the apparent rule that the pool of designated planners of baby showers seems to consist of those with babies or at least those who are married. As a non-planner you can always have some "conflict" that allows you to duck out early and make all those couples envy your glamorous single life. ;-)
Aside from that, you really need to start anticipating these showers better and plan trips on those days -- my favorite baby shower ever was one that I had to miss b/c of a pre-planned out of town trip, so I just mail ordered a gift instead. I like to think of it as a win-win.
To make it even better, the hosts could provide everyone else with talking points to bring up with you - so every conversation would include: Did you hear about that job you interviewed for? or, have yoy been on many dates lately? or something similar
